I'm a Ballerina

I was in Great World City's Mother Works when I found this book. The minute I saw it, I knew I've to get it for my little girl. It was a DIY twirly ballerina tutu set. The best part about it is that, there's no sewing required. Yesterday afternoon, I decided to dress Phoebe up as a ballerina, much to her excitement! There are simple instructions and the whole process of dressing her up took less than ten minutes. It's easy and FUSS-FREE! :)
Ballerina in the making...
Watch her perform for you! :)
Thank you for watching! :)

Departure to Zzzland

Every night before Reuben goes to bed, he'll have his milk and then go through the standard procedure. Let's watch him getting ready before departing to Zzzland :)

Soul-searching Time...

When Phoebe born, we did everything for her, from feeding, bathing to changing diapers. We enjoyed every process and took lots of pictures. It was a new experience and we celebrate every milestones she crossed. She's our princess and gem.

When Reuben came, we engaged a domestic helper to assist us. Slowly, she took over the duties of changing the diapers and bathing the children. It's not that Reuben is being valued less. We love him just as much and he's our little prince and jewel. But we just want to free ourselves from the daily duties. I constantly ask myself, "Maybe the novelty has worn out? Or have we became lazy parents?" I hope not. I would like to think that we, as parents, have more time and energy now to play and learn with them. So, have we spent more time playing with them? Time to do some soul-searching...

Home-made Ice Cream

Phoebe has sweet tooth. She loves all sorts of sweets - gummies, biscuits, cookies, chocolate and especially ICE CREAM!! :) We try to limit her sugar intake coz she already has loads of energy and most importantly, she's born with a single kidney. So, we're pretty watchful of her diet. But today we decided to give her an ice cream treat. We had home-made ice cream! Haha. Got you! We didn't make our own ice cream. We simply bought the ice cream cones and scooped the ice cream from the tubs :) Papa had cookies and cream and Phoebe, classic chocolate. Yummy! :)

Hello Sister, Hello Brother

I've been rather busy since school started 2 days ago. Many deadlines to meet and endless marking all over again. Sometimes I really envy those 'stay-at-home' mommies but I know that I can't be one because firstly, I like financial independence and secondly I don't have the patience to look after my children for the whole day. Going to work is a breakfree from my children's attention but yet, when I'm in school, I think of them all the time and wish that I can play and take care of them. I guess it's a dilemma that all mothers face. *sigh*

Anyway, someone ever asked me, "Does Phoebe and Reuben look alike?" Hmm... to me, I feel that they look different. But when I examined their newborn photos, I can somehow catch a tinge of similarities in them. Can you tell apart from who's who? (a), (b), (c), (d). Which ones are Phoebe and which ones are Reuben?

(a) (b)

(c) (d)

Make a guess and I shall reveal the answers in my next blog! :)

Ready, say, "CHEESE!"

It's tough to get two energetic kids to look into the camera at the same time for a decent synchronised photo shot. After several attempts, these are one of the best we can get. :)

I love this particular one best. Reuben di-di caught looking at Phoebe jie-jie :)

Milking Cow

Phoebe exclaimed,"Pump pump again?" Yes, these days I've been pumping extremely frequently, almost once every 2.5 hours and each session last for about 45 minutes and yet only getting a meagre 125ml of milk. Is my milk supply depleting, am I feeling stressed and tired of expressiong my milk, is Reuben drinking too much or am I not giving my breasts enough time to produce the milk that is needed? Probably all of the above reasons. Phoebe used to drink every 3 hourly. But Reuben needs to be fed 2 to 2.5 hourly. In fact, 1.5 hours after he was last fed, he started searching and making noises already. Everyone says, he's a boy so he drinks more. But at the rate he's going, I praying very hard that God will multiply my milk and let it flow like a fountain! Maybe I've to start introducing cereal to him when he reaches 4 months old. I was able to full-breastfeed Phoebe for six months and she only started cereal in her 7th month.

On Monday I'll resume teaching. I'll be away from Reuben for about 8 hours (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.) so I would need at least 4 bottles of milk to get him through the day. Till now, I already have 3 bottles. I hope by the end of Sunday, I can accumulate another 2 bottles, 1 being a spare. It's not going to be easy because I need to feed him and yet pump the milk for storage. To make the matter worse, Reuben does not like to latch on. He prefers to be bottle-fed. Hence, I need to pump out the milk to bottle feed him. That makes me almost perpetually pumping and squeezing every ooze of milk that I have. Talk about impatient and fussy babies, yup I think mine fits the bill! So now you know why Phoebe asks me, "Mommy pump pump again?"

Virtually tagged

I've been tagged by my friend, all the way from US! This is the wonderful thing about technology. We're thousands of mile away from each other and yet we can communication and even play games with each other via dear old internet. Anyway, I'm suppose to take 10 pictures of my place and the rule is, the pictures must show the real mess in the house, no cleaning up before photography. This is an easy game for me. Haha. These pictures were taken yesterday at about 10 a.m.
Here it goes :
1) My study table, or rather, OUR study table. I share it with my hubby. So you should know who creates the mess huh! :)

2) Our bed. Phoebe was having her shower when this picture was taken. Hence you can see her changing mat and lotions on the bed. We usually change our bedsheets on every Thursday, Friday or Saturday. So the bed was not made as the sheets have to be changed a few minutes after this picture was taken / after Phoebe had her shower.

3) This is the place where we park our Mercedes and BMW! One for Phoebe and one for Reuben. Hmm... the Bumbo Sitter is not suppose to be on the kids' table right?

4) Store room. It's hard to keep it neat with so many packs of diapers and tins of milk powder!

5) Clothes to be ironed. Not many, mostly my hubby's.

6) Phoebe and Reuben has many brand new clothes. We bought them way before they can wear them. The wardrobe is bursting and those that are too big (size 3T, 4T and 5T) had to be folded and put into plastic bags first. Well, you can say that we love our kids too much or we're simply kiasu parents :)

7) The bottles and cup were used the night before. They have to be washed, after Phoebe had her shower.

8) Phoebe's bed is not made yet. So her plush toys are still lying around on her bed.

9) Oh ! I love this picture. This is Phoebe's playroom. Rather neat, don't you think? :)

10) This is my book shelf. Filled with books, no more space. I had to stack some of the new novels that I've bought during the MPH book fair about 2 months ago. I wonder when I can steal time to read them...

Alrighti ! Mission completed. Who should I tag? Those people whom I know of have been tagged already! Maybe instead of tagging others I should let you read their tagged experiences :)

Ethan's mommy
The 2 Js' mommy

Maybe I should tag the mommies of Dash and Wanqi? :)

An Outing with Dash and QiQi

Kwee Fern knew about a mini fun fair at Learning Horizon and she invited us there on last Monday. We had to purchase a $10 coupon booklet before we could participate in the activities. Kwee Fern was very gracious to pay for the booklet for us. Phoebe had a lot of fun playing games such as mini golf, basketball, soccer, bowling etc. I wanted to let her try face painting but she had a mild allergy around her mouth that day, so I decided to let her have a hand painting instead. We had some coupons left and we bought some finger food.

We went to Tampines Ikea for lunch and the children played in the children's section. I wanted to let Phoebe play in the Smaland because I've heard my church friend commenting that it is pretty fun and well furnished. However, I saw some bigger children playing in a pretty rowdy manner and Hua Mei's little girl is under the minimum height limit. Hence, we decided to abort the idea.

We put our ''purchases" into a shopping cart!
