RWS - Festive Hotel

Still on the note of National Day celebration, we decided to book the Festive Hotel for a 2-Day 1-Night stay on the National Day holiday 9-10 August 2011.

The room in Festive Hotel was not very spacious but it was comfortable with ample sleeping space for our family. There was a King-sized bed and a sofa bed. The rooms were clean and new. I especially like their Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries. Haha :)

We spent most of the time at the pools. The best pool was the one in Hard Rock Hotel, which we were also able to get access to. It was a huge pseudo beach lagoon with chlorinated water and clean artificial sand. There were also several connecting pools. The children enjoyed making sandcastle and Phoebe had her first chance in playing beach volleyball. The pools in Festive Hotel were also kids friendly. There was a kids waterplay area which Phoebe and Reuben spent much time on on the last day before we checked out.

Another family friends of ours booked the Michael Hotel because Festive Hotel was full. Their rooms were not as comfortable as ours because they did not have the additional sofa bed and their pools were smaller. However, they had a good view out of their windows as they were able to see the gigantic Merlion in Sentosa.

From our room balcony, the children witnessed fireworks from Universal Studio on 9th August. We missed it because papa and mommy went out for a walk in the RWS mall with the family friends.

All in all, it was a good stay and the children had enjoyed themselves. We would definitely go there again in the near future! But the next time round, we might consider trying out the Hard Rock Hotel! :)

Happy 46th Birthday Singapore

I have just heard the National Day Rally last night so I supposed our nation is still in the mood of National Day celebrations. I still see the buntings and banners hanging in public places. I supposed, National Day, like Chinese Lunar New Year lasts for fifteen days, if not longer. Hence my post to well wish my country is not exactly late. As usual, the children had to be dressed in Red and White. So a few weeks before, I had to search for a suitable red top for Phoebe. The night before, I dressed them for the occasion just to snap a few pictures. So here it is, presenting the red and white models!

HAPPY 46th BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE! :)

It's a Conspiracy

It was night time. The two of them were changed into their pyjamas. It was time for bed. But the two of them were not sleeping. They said they were not tired. They refused to get settled down and close their eyes. They wanted to play some more. They decided to have a conspiracy. A conspiracy on how to delay bedtime.

Click!

The lights were out.

"Get into position!" mommy called out.

"Arrrghhh!!" the children groaned.

The boy grabbed his yellow Elmo blankie and the girl parked herself in the middle of the king-sized bed. Within five minutes, everyone was still :)

Kid's Prayer

I love this song and thought the lyrics was really meaningful. When I tried to sing it, my hubby was like, "Please lah, this song is for little children to sing, that's why it is called 'Kid's Prayer'." So since I was "forbidden" to sing it, I decided to play it! Haha. Here is one of the stanzas of this song. Enjoy.

Hear the original version. Always melts my heart whenever I hear it.

Watch What I Say

Phoebe (telling Reuben) : You and your big mouth
Me : What did you say?
Phoebe : I'm saying to Reuben, not to you.
Me : Don't say that again. It's not nice.
Phoebe : But you said that to me.
Me : Oops! I'm sorry that I've said that to you. Let's not use that again okie? Mommy will not say that to you again and you also try not to use that again okie? Let's try together.
Phoebe : Okie.

I have to watch what I say.

God, let the words in my mouth by pure and holy, pleasing to Your sight and encouraging to my children. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!

Bibletoons God Rocks!

We have been looking for "Hi-5" equivalent of Christian DVD for the children. There is not many of such DVDs in the Singapore Christian market. We finally found 1 which resembles Hi-5. It's called Bibletoons God Rocks and it has Christian songs, dancing, cartoons and teaching of Christian values and Bible memory verses. The children love God Rocks! They are learning a lot of Bible verses in the form of catchy songs. Even Reuben can sing some of the Bible verses now. In this clip, he's singing the 9 Fruit of the Spirit - Love, Joy, Peace, Patient, Kindess, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-control. Against such things, there is no law. (Galatians 5:22-23)

Desaru Malaysia

We had a 2-day 1-night trip to Desaru on 2 July. A short trip but fun and meaningful. We stayed in Lotus Desaru Hotel, visited the ostrich farm, bought some fruit in the fruit farm, ate delicious and cheap seafood, watched fireflies and shopped in Tebrau City before heading for home. Many new experience for the children, especially the the visiting of the ostrich and fruit farms and the viewing of fireflies. We have learnt much from the trip. For example, the mother ostrich weighs about 130 kg and she will sit on her eggs without cracking them. So we also tried balancing on the ostrich eggs coz we are less than 130 kg! While taking the cruise to see the fireflies, the river was pitch dark. The children were afraid. However, they were very fascinated when they saw the thousands of twinkling lights near the bushes at the river bank. In order to maintain the darkness, photography was not allowed so I told Pb to remember that night and lock it in her memory bank. These are things that we do not see in Singapore and I'm glad that the children had the opportunity to experience it.

On day 2, we checked out of the hotel and drove to Tebrau City, JB for our shopping. We ended our trip by having dinner in Fish Manhattan, before heading for home at about 6 pm.
