Grandma Turns 65

My mom is 65! She celebrated her 65th birthday on 11 June 2010, just 4 hours before leaving Singapore to her well-deserved holiday to China. My sister rushed back from work and got her a mango cake from Four Leaves. We gathered in my mother's place to sing her a happy birthday song. Phoebe cut the cake with her favourite grandmother and took many pictures with her favourite Yi-yi. After that, papa sent us home before reverting back to take my parents to the airport.

Phoebe made for her grandma three bear-shaped nutella sandwiches. She used the bear-shaped cookie cutter to cut the sandwiches after spreading nutella on the bread. I bought my mother a Coach Tribeca leather bag. Actually, we have had an earlier celebration on Wednesday, 9 June 2010. I gave my parents a buffet lunch treat in the Fern Tree Cafe in Miramar Hotel but I forgot to take photos that day. Absent-minded me!

Time really flies. Last year, we celebrated her birthday in Shangri La Hotel and the previous year, the celebration was done in my place. I will celebrate my mother's birthday every year, to thank her for bringing me and my children up. May God continue to strengthen her health each day and bring her much joy in her life! Amen! :)

Yi-yi loves her niece and nephew, always showering them with gifts and nice food :)

Have a happy and blessed birthday dear mother/grandma! We love you!

Pay Attention

We always encourage Phoebe to read to Reuben whenever possible because this will help Phoebe to improve in her reading skills. She will also feel more confident when she is able to read well. Reuben, on the other hand, will benefit from Phoebe's reading to him. We can also steal some time to take a short rest while Phoebe takes over the reading job. They can self-entertain each other, thus, fostering stronger sibling bond.

On this particular evening, Phoebe was trying to read to Reuben but the little boy was obviously distracted. Phoebe tried to help her brother to stay focused and she suddenly yelled out at him (with style and accent). For a moment, Reuben was stunned. I was stunned too. Phoebe carried on reading to Reuben, oblivious to how Reuben had felt.

After a while, Reuben regained his composure and decided to play prank. His sister, again, yelled at him but the effect was watered down. Reuben chuckled mischievously as he witnessed his sister getting exasperated. In the end, Phoebe gave up, much to the amusement of Reuben and me! (^_^)

Chopsticks From Daiso

Papa got this pair of training chopsticks from Daiso and you guessed it right, it cost $2 only! (^_^)b. Well, they are not as appealling as those that cost $8-$15 but they sure serve the function well. Phoebe demonstrated how she used the chopsticks to eat noodles.

Busy Bodies in The Polliwogs

Yes! We went and we conquered. The children had a swell of a time. The whole place rocked as the little bodies move. The blogger mommies (and some fathers) met on Monday, 7 June 2010 at about 1.30 p.m. in The Polliwogs. It was our date arranged almost a month ago. Reuben went straight after his lesson in Little Learners. There was no time to change. He charged in the minute his foot stepped into Polliwogs. For Phoebe, we paid $16 for unlimited play which included a coffee/tea for the parent. They were kind enough to charge only $8 for Reuben as he was little ($8 is supposed to be for children under two years old). We stayed there for about four hours. The children were totally deflated that they fell asleep in the car.
