A Mother's Joy

  1. There's no need to say more... All my years of carrying her, fussing over her and loving her, are all worth it. She wrote this all by herself on her own, without help, while I was having Cell Group Bible Study. What more can I ask of her? What else do I want from her? I pray that God will continue to bind our hearts to each other and to Him. To God be the Glory. Thank You God! Thank You, thank You and Thank You!

Christmas AB Crumble & Pressies

We were invited to Aunty Erica's place to bake Christmas AB (Apple Banana) crumble. The process was easy and the product was delectable! One of the best AB crumble I've ever eaten! We had potluck lunch and the children played with the toys. We ended the gathering with a Christmas gift exchange and the children were thrilled to draw lots to receive their mystery prize. Children always love pleasant suspense, wouldn't we adults too? :)

Baking Cookies with Grandma

We have long made arrangements with Mama to go to her place to bake cookies because Rb loves Gingerbread Man. This morning, we went to her place to embark on this fun activity. I was very surprised to see Rb willing and so so eagerly wanting to bake cookies. He's one boy who strongly dislikes dirtying his hands and he had never shown any interest in participating in any of the cooking or baking activities. Maybe it is the lure of the Gingerbread Man story. He held onto the mould possessively.

I truly appreciate my mother in this aspect. She's not afraid of messing up her place and finds Rb's constant whining an amusement. She laughed at their enthusiasm and was very patient with the children's petty squabbling. The children spent precious moment with their grandma. They got to play and eat! How joyful it was for the children! I thank God for this wonderful grandma to these children. I pray that Pb and Rb will grow up remembering the kindness and goodness of their loving grandmother, who had spent her golden years of her life accompanying them in their growth. God bless this old lady! :)

Impromptu Outing with Yiyi

It was a rare chance that Yiyi could join us for our outing today. It wasn't planned but impromptu, still, we had lots of fun :) We went to McDonalds for breakfast, followed by SK library to borrow books and finally, to Ikea for late lunch and Christmas shopping. Maybe next time we should plan better to have an even better time together :)

Polishing my Gems

Children are like gems, entrusted by God to us to polish them till they shine brilliantly for Him. Besides moulding their characters to be Christlike, we are also responsible in helping them to maximize their potential. Because of my busy schedule, I do not have the luxury of spending a lot of time with them. Every little time that we have count.

For this year-end holiday, we will try to read as many books that we can get hold of from the library and have as much fun as we can. We will also work on certain aspects of the children's academic progress.

For Pb, we will need to go through her P1 work again to firm up all her basic concepts. With her foundation strengthened, hopefully she will face less problem when she built on her P2's work.

As for Rb, we will work on his penmanship. Hopefully, he will improve in his writing and fine motor skills. I had started to keep a record of Phoebe's amateurish writing via her Scrap Book since she was in K1. Since Rb is going to be in K1 soon, we will also start a Scrap Book for him to document his writing process. Hopefully, he will develop a passion for writing and enjoy the process of writing, as much as he has enjoyed reading :)

Gems in the polishing, till they shine like the lighthouse! :)

Pleasant Surprise

This morning, we went to Pb's school to buy the P2 school books. There wasn't a crowd so we managed to get what we wanted very easily. After that, we went for a short tour around her school with Pb being the School Ambassador / Tour Guide. She showed us where the Eco Garden was, the General Office, her Art Room and we stopped at her 1Joy classroom. I was pleasantly surprised to see her beautiful group work done with her friends. It was very well written and neat. I had to whip out my hp to snap a picture of it. I'm so proud of the girls. I'm sure Mrs Sekar would be too :)

Back View

I find their back view intriguingly interesting. They find excitement in sipping the cold water from the water cooler. We often take for granted such simple pleasures but children see them as a privilege. We should learn to be like them - childlike, simple and appreciative :)

School's Out for Phoebe

So fast!! My girl has graduated from Primary 1 education! It seems like yesterday that we have just attended her P1 Orientation and first day of school! :) I really miss her cuteness, though she IS still cute to me now. Over the year, I can see her learning well, building up confidence, maturing physically, mentally and emotionally, not to mention that her pinafore is getting shorter and tighter! :) Sometimes, she comes back from school with some nonsensical rhymes that she learns from her school friends, but I think this is just part and parcel of growing up, learning to sieve / filter out the nonsense and retaining only the goodness. I thank God for her teacher, Mrs Sekar. She has been a great role model and mentor to the girls, teaching them good values, which is of outmost importance in education. She's also very sharp, being able to detect the fact that my girl is very dependent on me. I must learn to let go and encourage Phoebe to be bold to venture out in her own. I was very pleased to find out that Mrs Sekar would be following up with the girls. That would mean that the girls would enjoy another year of being prayed for daily. I praise God for planting Mrs Sekar into Phoebe's life! He knows what is best for my girl. He who have created us knows what is best for us! Once again, Glory unto Him! :)

Thank You & Blessed Christmas

Over the weekends, Pb & Rb made a Christmas cum Thank You card to their form teachers. The children had a great year learning from these kind, devoted and dedicated teachers. I want to teach my children to be appreciative beings and not ungrateful brats. I truly thank God for blessing Pb and Rb with good hearts. Everyday, I pray that God will bless them to be children of high IQ, EQ and SQ (Spiritual Quotient). To me, I emphasize on having "The Fruit of the Spirit". I know that God will take care of them because He loves Pb and Rb very much. Thank you God for the wonderful teachers! :)
