Dear God...

At 7+ yesterday morning, I overheard Rb talking to his aunty...

Rb : I'm v happy today. You know why? Coz we can take our lantern and walk around in school today!

Aunty : Oh! But it's raining now...

Rb : Huh! "Dear God, please bless that it'll not rain later so that I can take my lantern to walk around in school. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!"

I was v glad that at such a young age, Rb knows that when meeting a challenge, his first response is to pray and seek God. God is great!

Indeed God has blessed little boy back and he & his classmates had an awesome time parading their lessons! :)

Chinese Literally

Sometimes I cannot blame the children for taking the meaning literally! It is indeed difficult for them to understand the hidden meaning / agenda in the Chinese characters. The children make sense of the language by how they understand of each character. Just like the 2 words "难过", in Chinese it means "sad" but children, being innocent and simple, Pb take it as "difficult to cross (the road)". In a way, she's right coz how on earth would she know the figurative meaning in these 2 put-together characters?

This was what had happened when I was revising Unit 12-14 of the 3B text book in preparation of a Chinese checkpoint with her. I'm not angry with her, just finding it amusing! :) Have a good laugh! :)

Me : What is 伤心?

Pb: Heart injured??

Me : Huh??!!! Then what is 伤口?

Pb : Mouth injured??

Me : *face-palm* 😱

Puppy Eyes

When Rb wants to play with the hand phone, he'll beg us. We usually wouldn't allow the playing of iPhone especially on weekdays. Two days ago, we went out for dinner and Rb was feeling v bored while waiting for the food to arrive. We'll usually bring along notebooks and stationery for them to draw and self entertain. See what this little boy had drawn so as to get our sympathy to let him play with the iPhone?
Puppy eyes... Heeheehee :)

The Trials of an Almost Kiasu Mommy

Pb's reading this book now... She said it's a really hilarious and interesting book and she can identify with the characters in the book! Gosh! She's going to learn the trait and tricks of a mommy!! :) Haha! I've enjoyed reading this book too.

Master Class 3

Last Saturday, Rb had his Master Class 3. He has been practicing everyday, D major long tonic, D major arpeggios and Minuet 1. I try to dress him up differently and maintaining his bow tie. He's the bow tie boy :) so this is the new image for this Master Class :)

We were early, so we sat on the couch to wait :)

As the classroom was opened, so we went in the practise and warm up the violin :)

My Likes

Baking.

Reading.

Pigs and Catapult

Rb loves Snake n Ladder and Angry Birds. So he combined both and created this! He even came up with the rules. I was v impressed and I supported him by spelling some words for him and laminating his game so that it can last longer. Then the 2 of them played the game together. I also joined in to "test" the game. It was foolproof !! :) Success!!

Many Pattern

See lah! So many pattern! :)

Elsa Doll

Little girl finally received her long awaited Elsa doll :) Girls are still girls. They just love dolls :)

Berenstain Bears

Little boy's latest favourite, The Berenstain Bears series, by Stan and Jan Berenstain. I love these books because they are suitable for 2-6 year olds and the stories always come with good moral values. It's a good read for Rb :) I hope we can find all the titles in the libraries! :)

Post National Day Reflection

Little boy had such a splendid time playing with his friends during the National Day gathering that he decided to pen it down in his diary immediately even though it was past 11.30 pm! I love his enthusiasm! :)

National Day Celebration

We spent our National Day in Uncle Alex and Aunty Joyce's new condo. The children  had a good time swimming and running around. The adults had a fabulous time catching up while stuffing ourselves silly with all the delectable barbecued food. We also went to the Sky Park at 8 pm to witness the fireworks at the faraway floating platform. Best time is time spent with family and friends :)

Singapore My Home

Singapore is a peaceful and relatively safe place to live in. We have stable jobs and systems in place. We may not be the most creative people, but we are honest and practical workers. We have the freedom to move around and our basic needs are met. Looking at many countries who are at war, with many who live in fear everyday, I am v thankful that Singapore is my home. I pray that God will continue to anoint our leaders with wisdom, compassion and favour so that our children and future generation will continue to grow and blossom in this wonderful place.

Happy 49th Birthday Dear Singapore!! :)

Dad's Check Up

I want to remember this moment forever - Accompanied my dad to SGH for his check up. On the surface, we looked happy but our hearts were heavy. We know what is to come and we are not looking forward to it. My dad (and mom) have been v brave. I have to be v brave for them. I draw my strength from God. I thank God for understanding school leaders and supportive husband. God reigns.

Work Together Time

I feel that it's important to have a common homework time because one sibling who's doing homework might feel quite demoralized when the other is playing. So if Pb is doing work and she sees Rb playing, she will feel sad. Thus to motivate each other, I would try to plan both of their study time together, even if the other may not have formal academic work to do. This will teach them to work hard together and also play together, thus building up their sibling bond :)
