Two is Enough

Remember this 1970s slogan which was on national TV and prints,

"Boy or Girl,

Two is enough."

 

 

 

You can say that I have been brainwashed but I seriously thought how true it is. That's why we only want to have 2 children, one parent to entertain one child. No extra manpower, no spare time!! And we do not need to spread our finances too thinly between them. Some people told me that I should have more if not I'll regret when i grow older. We think we will but right now, with time and manpower constraint, not to mention machinery breaking down with aches and pains, we need to be contented with just our joyful 2 and try to teach them in the ways of our Lord to the best of our ability. Hahaha. Thank God for these 2 gifts! :)

RAD Grade 3 Exam

This would be the 6th year Pb has been learning Ballet. She enjoys the movement and the rhythm and seeing her dance, I know that she has some aptitude in it :) For her exam, she practised conscientiously daily for the past 2 weeks, dancing along with the YouTube video clips and her own video. She was self-driven and I did not have to nag at her to practise. I'm just so happy that she has found something that she really love to do and as long as she's interested, I'll give her my utmost support :) 

We prayed for her ballet exam and we will leave the results in God's hands! :)

This is my favourite photo. I love her posture and pose - body straight, chin up, shoulder down, toes pointed, muscles tightened, left leg turned outwards. Just so beautiful :)

Praise HIM with drums and DANCING. Praise him with harps and flutes. (Psalms 150:4)

Science PAL Lesson

Rb : Papa, do you know that bat is the only mammal that can fly?

Papa : (amused) Oh is it? :)

Rb : And papa, do you know that the (spiny) anteater and the (duckbill) plytapus are the only mammals that lay eggs?

Papa : Very good Rb. Where did you learn it from?

Rb : From Ms Tham in Science PAL lesson.

Papa : Very good Rb. You have been attentive in class. 

A child's brain is like a sponge. They're so eager to learn and absorb knowledge. God bless the little children! :)

One Vote for River Safari

I love River Safari (RS) more than the Singapore Zoo. Though I'm not exactly a fish lover, some how, seeing the graceful creatures swimming and gliding in the big blue tanks makes me cool down and marvel at God's creative magnitude. It has a therapeutic effect. I also like the sheltered walkway that shields us from the harsh Singapore sun and the air conditioned viewing galleries for our famous pandas and the aquarium. I do wish that there are more variety and economical eateries though but at anytime, I will always vote for RS over our zoo. Of course, the children always love the 2 lazy pandas. Seeing them gnawing tirelessly on their leaves is also quite curative for our complex and busy thoughts too. Hahaha :)

In our numerous times here, we never fail to stop here for a chocolate panda bun. It's Pb's favourite! :)

Actually Rb doesn't like sweet stuff at all! He's only posing with the Panda Red Bean bun for fun :)

So, the panda red bean bun ended up in our tummies instead! Haha :)

The children's favourite Amazon Quest boat ride. I guess they love the thrill of the decending ride. The anteater and tapir went to hide. So sad...

We also took the River Safari cruise. It was only 15 mins long but we thought it seems way too long coz it was rather slow and less exciting. We couldn't really see any creatures except the elephants and the giraffes from the Singapore Zoo. They were disappointed, so was I. 

I bought the souvenir T-shirts for fun :)

Pb's Suggestions

On the week that Mr Lee KY had passed on, Pb told me this when I was driving her home from school: Mommy, I feel that one year later, or even very soon, many people will forget about Mr Lee KY. I feel that in order for all of us to remember him, the government should

 

1) erect a statue of him, just like the one for Sir Stamford Raffles

2) print more information about him in our Social Studies book

And lastly,

3) put his red suitcase in the museum so that people will know that he has work very hard for our country.

When I've heard what Pb had said, I was impressed by her sensible suggestions and the way she worded it, by a 9-year-old girl. And now indeed, here it is, Mr Lee's red suitcase in the museum. I shall take Pb to the museum to view Mr Lee's belongings. Thank you Incredibles Mum for giving me permission to share this picture :)

Master and Studio Classes 1

This semester, we are packed with 2 master classes, 2 studio classes, an aural exam, a theory exam and the violin exam. That's quite a lot of happenings for half a year!! Practice is done daily on our part but we also trust God that His blessings is bountiful! Tomorrow will be Master class 2. God speed!! :)  

First time trying out a sweet pastel pink bow tie. Initially little boy was against it but after showing him several pictures of boys and men looking smart and neat the pink bow ties, lil boy relented though his face wasn't v agreeable at first.

Finally, Master Class 1 was over!! Yeh! :)

Studio Class 1 happened to be on the day where our First Prime Minister, Mr Lee Kuan Yew, was cremated. There was a 15.1 KM procession from the Parliament House to National University Cultural Centre. Everyone decided to wear white (or black) as a form of respect and to show mourning for the demise of this great man, us included.

We were afraid of traffic jam which might result in us being late for Studio Class. So we left home much earlier. The traffic was v smooth and we ended up having lots of time. Thus we had breakfast in Burger King instead :)

After parking the car at Bugis Plus, papa came over to join us in breakfast.

This was our first Studio Class and it was an eye opener! Ye lao shi's pupils played v well and they were all in different grades. Rb was v surprised to be called to play first because usually in Master Class, he was usually the last few to play. Thus mentally he was not v well prepared and did not play with his usual gusto and expression. It was rather slow, draggy and wary. His teacher gave him a second chance and played along with him for a booster. It was much better for the second time! Phew!

Rb and his v pretty and elegant Ye lao Shi. She's really v good and patient with Rb and she's also v encouraging. Rb is still in the midst of improving and sometimes he dreams during class! But Ye lao shi has never put him down. She's always trying her best to explain the techniques to Rb so that his flaws can be corrected. We really thank God for her!!! God is so good!!

Math Encouragement

Thank you to his Math / form teacher for giving Rb a chance to receive this priceless certificate on the last day of Term 1. It was really meaningful and has made his and our day! 

Rb was so happy that he decided to pen in his diary so that he could remember it forever :)
