I Walk By Faith

This is Phoebe's concert performance with her class : Joy 1. The title of their performance was "I Walk By Faith".

Phoebe's Concert

Phoebe had her school graduation concert on 7 November, Saturday. The concert started at 10 a.m. but the children had to reach school by 9.30 a.m. for make-up. It was an excellent concert and we could not help but teared when we see all the little children marching in. My throat was tight and I had to fight to swallow my tears in. It was a very touching moment. We grinned from ear to ear. The school has an excellent instructional programme and every achievement of the children are celebrated. The teachers and principal are very kind and loving.

We're very proud of Phoebe and is very glad that she is growing well academically and spiritually in such a loving and kind environment! :)

Do you remember Dr. Moo from NIE (the lady in pants on the right)? She was my lecturer for one of the teaching subjects. Apparently, she is one of the school advisors in SKMCC committee.

Phoebe's Chinese teacher, Zou lao shi and her Form teacher, Ms Hoe.

Her little friends, Ezann, Mae, Phoebe, Alycia and Hui Sze. One of her art work done in school.

Bedtime Stories

Usually before bedtime, the Phoebe will get to listen to two to three stories while Reuben latched on to sleep. But recently, Reuben has developed an interest in reading bedtime stories too. He will take a book and pretend to read by babbling. Sometimes, Phoebe gets annoyed because she thought that di-di is disturning her, especially that he 'reads' very loudly. But other nights, Phoebe will play along and guide his brother to pretend to read by helping him to flip the pages. :) Reuben is reading Auntie KF's HOP on POP book. He likes that book very much. :)

What's Reuben Saying Now?

At 20 months, how is Reuben's verbalization of words ? :)

papa, mommy, jiejie, didi (himself), Ana (Auntie Nia), mama (grandma), gonggong (grandpa), yiyi (my sister), milk, car, nana (banana), apple, eddie (elephant), ostrich, orange, bish (fish), oosh (shoes), dog, baabaa, meow, ball, no, mum mum (eat), open, roar, two, dirty, there, lah lah (spicy), babbit (rabbit), Ah-ppo (hippo), dada (busuk senja da - poo poo), but but (butterfly), bird, woo-woo (monkey) and Oh no!

36 words and still counting :)

His three popular words are papa, open and eddie. He loves to greet his papa voluntarily, which always brings about smiles and praises from his papa. Even if his papa is on the verge of falling asleep, he would sit up to entertain his favourite son :)

The two of them like to play the "Call Papa" game. What's that ? Watch this :)

Curly and The Log

Usually, the school will do activities related to the readers. Actually, it is very much similar to what we're doing in Primary school's STELLAR programme except that in primary schools, there are many more worksheets to be done. In fact, I think the primary school curriculum is following what the Pre-schools are doing. Sometimes, I wish that I'm more passionate about what I'm delivering, just like Phoebe's pre-school teachers. I also wish for more time for the primary school children to play and explore.

Anyway, for "Curly and the Log", the children made Curly the worm out of egg trays. Phoebe brought her Curly home and I love it! She's very proud of her work :) Me too! :)

Smooth Operator

Caught Reuben in action, playing with the telephone in my mom's place. Reuben thought that I would scold him, so he pretended to blink his eyes and unleash his innocent charm. It worked! Haha :)

Then, seeing that I didn't reprimand him for playing with the telephone, he got bolder and pretended to be on business, talking to his imaginary client online. Haha :)

Hands and Legs Painting

After a tired day of work, we still have to return home to entertain our little ones. These little human beings are always packed with loads of energy. No wonder we always call them the energizer bunnies.

Anyway, what do we do to them? We play with them, read with them, watch recorded children programme with them and paint with them.

I painted Phoebe's leg with a bunny holding on to a balloon and a carrot. I also gave her a butterfly with hearts. She helped me to paint a flower, two balloons and a sun on my thigh. And I painted a butterfly for myself.

Then both Phoebe and I painted an elephant on Reuben's hand coz that's his favourite animal, but we didn't take a picture of it coz he was running around amok with his elephant... haha.

It was fun and we could keep the busy bodies contained and entertained for a while. :)

An Unusual Sight

It is not a usual sight to see Phoebe allowing Reuben to sit on her. Usually, Phoebe would either scream at the top of her lungs and make a big fuss out of it, or simply push Reuben away. I supposed, she was pretty engrossed in watch "Go Diego Go" and she told me that it was not painful (to let di-di sit on her). My parents would have wag their fingers and shake their heads to show disapproval ; it'll hurt Phoebe's back... blab...blab...blab... But for me, as long as there is no pain or injury inflicted and no fights triggered, it should be okay (to let Reuben ride on Phoebe) for a while. :)

Phoebe's 4th Birthday - Bottle Tree Park

This is a continuation of Phoebe's 4th Birthday. We went to the Bottle Tree Park with our neighbours. We had a nice sumptuous dinner before proceeding to cake cutting - Phoebe's second princess cake. The children played in the playground and watched others prawn fishing.

Phoebe's 4th Birthday - SKMCC

Phoebe celebrated her 4th birthday in her school, SKMCC. She was allowed to wear her own clothes. Phoebe wore her new dress from Baby Gap :) She chose the Aurora cake from Bengawan Solo. There were 18 children from her class and we got a 2 kg cake. There were about half a cake left and we gave the cake to the teachers to share. We also prepared goodie bags for all her friends, including her 3 teachers - Ms Hoe, Mdm Guok and Zou lao shi. Phoebe was very happy but she was very shy to smile. When we were in her school, we've seen a different side of her. She is very quiet and shy, very different from how she is at home or with us. I asked her why she's very quiet in school, she replied, "I don't want to talk, later teacher scold me." Haha. So funny :) I was surprise that at such a young age, she knows the expected behaviour in school.

From our visit to her school, her teacher, Ms Hoe, also feedback that Phoebe was very obedient in school but recently, she was not on task and did not complete her classwork. When her friends had finished doing their work, Phoebe had not started doing yet. Hmm... so I had a pep talk with her and found out that she didn't know what page to do and didn't dare to ask her teacher, so she just sat there and watch her friends do their work. I didn't know if that was an excuse from her, but I told her that she had to open up her mouth to ask next time if she has any enquiry. I hope things will get better in school. :)

We're glad we've made the school visit to celebrate the special with Phoebe. She was very happy :) Love her bits bits bits! :)
