Phoebe already knows how to write her numbers from 1-10 and her alphabet in capital letters. She can write most of the alphabet in small letters. For this holiday, I intend to get Phoebe to practise on her penmanship. I always feel that penmanship is very important. I have come across many pupils who do not have good penmanship. They would write their capital letters below the line, e.g. their capital letter J and small letter j will both be written below the line. This will result in untidiness and marks lost in punctuation. I try to get Phoebe to write 2 sentences per day. Sometimes, when she is in the mood for writing, she will write 3 to 4 sentences. But in her lousy days, she will only write one. I am getting her to scribe sentences starting with the stem "I am ..." so that indirectly, it will drum into her the Subject-Verb agreement rule of "I + am".
I also hope to teach Phoebe how to write her Chinese name. Each character has only 3-4 strokes. I have not started teaching her how to write her Chinese name yet. Hopefully, she will be able to write her own Chinese name by the end of December (^_^)b
Phoebe is also able to do simple addition sums (e.g. ___ + ____ = _____ without renaming). I will try to teach her how to do simple subtraction sums (e.g. ____ - ____ = ____).

Her school has also given her some worksheets to be completed. I thought it was good. We can all work together to keep the children occupied with meaningful activities. :)

Wow, very nice handwriting, and phoebe is doing so well. dash can write numbers, but is still weak in small letters and his handwriting that is all over the place. i must train him too...
But she always write one or two sentences and then said that she's tired. Not very motivated :(
How abt something like a journal? Like a "All About Me" book or something. First page "My name is Phoebe" and "I am four"... draw picture... decorate decorate... Or you write "My favourite colour is" and let her fill in "pink".... Not really drilling but at least she is more motivated to write.
Haha... I was thinking of that too. But will start with some basic penmanship. I'm thinking of making them into a her own story book about herself. So page 1 : I am Phoebe. Then she draw a picture of person. Page 2 : I am four, then draw picture of anything that shows four, e.g. a birthday cake with 4 candles. Page 3 : I am a girl. Page 4 : I am happy / pretty etc. Then she gets to her own personalised storybook! :)
