Little Nyonya Returns

Pb has outgrown her first set of nyonya costume. Hence, in our trip to Malacca this year (18-20 Dec), we bought a new set for her. I realised she has grown more mature but she's just as sweet to me and still my beloved baby :) We had an enjoyable short trip with the Wongs and the Lows. The children loved each other's company, so do the adults! The children played silly games and we adults shopped like there's no tomorrow. It really takes a village raise a child and I'm glad that the children are growing up together! :) May their friendship last for as long as possible!! :)

The Saga of Om Nom

The saga of Om Nom continues... Eye Patch Chart :)

Car Washing Crew

Since the last experience in car washing, the two fun seekers have been wanting to wash the car for the longest time. I've been dismissing them and promising them the opportunity during the school holiday. Today is the chance. See their enthusiasm and their comical antics, I sat there relaxing and laughing at their silly ways and blogging at the same time. Is it washing car or washing human? Car washing can be a pleasant chore too! What an oxymoron!! :) Thank God for giving us joy.

It's the Time of the Year

This is our third year bringing our children to Velocity for ice skating. The children look forward to this whenever Christmas is near :) this year it gets better coz Pb is able to skate coz she learnt roller blading in the beginning of this year.

Watching their happy faces is priceless :)

Snowman Wired Doll

Ikea always has such events for children. They don't cost much except for Smalish $2 which is deducted from their Smales account. The half hour session was not v fantastic but the children just liked the simple craftwork time. We will accompany them, as long as we are not busy on that day :)

Playdate with PL Friends

As Pb will be going to different classes from her classmates, we decided to arrange a playdate for her with her classmates. We went to one of their places and the 3 girls swam. It was v heartwarming to see the girls enjoying each other's company. God bless these little girls that wherever they go, they will be kind and sincere friends to the people whom they will meet :)

Cut the Rope

Rb likes the candy monster in the app game called 'Cut the Rope'. The monster name is 'Om Nom'. We saw the book in Popular and he wanted to buy it. Initially I didn't want to buy for him. But seeing his puppy eyes, I gave in. He was sooo happy! I used the opportunity to teach them the phrase, "cut throat prices" :)

Rb said the name "Om Nom" was a v nice name and he wants to name his son "Om Nom" next time :) haha. So funny. I shall remind him when he becomes a father :)

Joining Art Lessons

Pb has been watching Rb attending Art classes and she really hopes to be able to join too. I was reluctant to.let her join because she's usually v busy with her school work on weekdays. However, this 10 weeks of art lesson falls on Nov and Dec holiday and will end in early Jan. Hence I agreed to sign her up for these 10 lessons.

She had fun in these last 2 lessons and I think she's learning well. I'm glad she's doing something that she likes :)

Hair Braiding

We  saw this hair braiding in  Australia Gold Coast Movie World last year. It cost AUS $12 to braid a tail. My friend's daughter did it but being a cheapo mommy, I told Pb that mommy can do it for her free of charge. So after one and a half year, I finally fulfilled my promise.

I did it for her when she was doing her Math assessment book and Rb was napping. It took me one hour just to braid that little tail! I almost wanted to give up halfway through. Pb said she would pay me $2 for the braiding! Haha ! Cheap labour!! :)

Playdates

The children are bored at home coz I've to attend school meetings. So I arranged playdates for them :)

Rb's good friends, Jonas and Lucas and Pb's childhood friends, Phoedora and Vera came over to play. We made lunch (macaroni chicken soup) for Dora as she was staying  for a longer time. The children also made rainbow cupcakes as I was experimenting the recipe I saw on You Tube.

It was a fun day for the children, social interactions beat playing with electronic gadgets!

Pb's P2 Report Card

I cannot deny the fact that my initial response was disappointment and sadness that Pb did not make it into the top three classes in her school. Her school does not have THE best class but they've top 3 classes of equal strength. Pb got into the middle-band class. I was disappointed because both of us have worked hard throughout the year. However, because of the boo boo in her SA2 math, she did not achieve her usual 90+ marks and SA2 constitutes 70% of the overall marks. I found it a waste because she has been getting above 90 marks for math since term 1 to 3. /sigh/ No words could comfort my broken heart. Pb asked me (when she received her Math results), "Mommy, are you sad?" I told her as a matter of fact, "Yes Pb, mommy is sad and disappointed because we've worked hard for it. I guess this holiday, we have to try to improve in whatever you're not sure of." and Pb nodded in agreement.

Reflecting back after a few days, all these that had happened must be part of God's plan. We have prayed and entrusted God with the exam results and this was what He has given us. He knows us v well. He knows that I'm a Tiger Mom and He wants me to spare Pb from more barking and unnecessarily added stress if she is to make it into the competitive top 3 classes. He has His plan for pb and He will let it come through. As parents, I can only trust Him that His ways are higher than my ways. My beloved children are definitely in good hands.

I also feel comforted to know that given Pb's current result, she would have been banded into the second best class in my school. But the best consolation that I've received is that her form teacher, who has been with her class since P1, commented that Pb has beautiful character and learning attitude. She is also excellent in conduct. I guess on the hind side, I must always remind myself that results are not absolute. Rather, character will bring her a longer way in life. As an educator, how can I not know that??!!! I thank God for nurturing Pb into a beautiful young lady on the inside and on her outside.

Having discussed about her results with her, I've asked Pb what she thought about not being in the classes which many of her friends are going. She replied that she was sad; she was sad not because she's unable to go to the top 3 classes. She's sad coz out of her 3 good friends, only one will be with her in P3. She said she'll miss her friends. I was v elated to hear that because it goes to show that she values her friends much more than academic results. I think as far as I'm concern, PL is already successful in moulding Pb into a positive, driven, motivated and socially intelligent pupil!

With that, I think her P2 education has ended with an A* in my report card for her! :) To God be the Glory! :)
