The Love for Reading & Writing

Pb did this compo in school, without any help from her teacher. Her form/English  teacher had some personal issues which she needed to take care of urgently and the relief teacher gave the class this compo to be done in class. According to Pb, the relief teacher did not go through or discussed about the pictures with the class and instructed the girls to write. When she told me these in the car while I was sending her home, I was a little worried. I wondered if she was able to write without getting out of point.

However, when I read her compo in the evening, not only was I relieved, I was swelling with pride and joy! Except for a few punctuation mistakes and a reflexive pronoun error, her story was coherent and fluent. The development was thorough and the use of words was appropriate, though not fanciful. Her sentence structure was also sound and I particularly love her ending. I'm very glad with her effort and ability. I praised her and concluded to her that her ability to write such a decent piece was due to her enjoyment of reading. I encourage her to continue to read because when you have lots of good input, then you are able to produce creative output.

Eversince she was young, I have always pray that God will bless Pb with a passion in reading, to grow to become an independent avid reader. I thank God that He has fulfilled my prayer. I would think that Pb's reading age is far beyond children of her age. She reads books from Nancy Drew, Enid Blyton and recently, she is hooked to Adeline Foo's books. She was also able to read Charlotte's Web, a literature text which I had studied only when I was in Secondary 1!

All glory really to God! His faithfulness never fails. His love endures forever! Amen! :)

Preparing for Rb's Birthday Celebration

Tomorrow Rb will be celebrating his 5th birthday in SKMCC. This morning, he spent some time signing his autograph on the thank you cards. Initially, I had wanted to get him to write on the card himself. He tried for a card and then signed in frustration as the card was a bit too small for his large handwriting. I thought, to cut the pain, I would just help him with the words and he'll just do his autograph, just like a star! Haha! :) It was fun preparing for his birthday.

At night, we had a mini dinner celebration at Serangoon Garden's Bakerzin for Rb, sort of a pre-birthday celebration with the Grands. I just love such gathering together. We need to treasure the young and cherish the old. I pray that one day, we will all be able to celebrate together in God's kingdom, the young and the old. I'm still waiting for God's mercy on my oldies.

In the meantime, let us all anticipate Rb's birthday celebration in SKMCC with excitememt! Tomorrow will be his day!! :)

I'm Lovin' Him

Yesterday, Rb went to the Science Centre with his school. There is no school for his session today but lil boy woke up soooo early and asked for Mac breakfast!!! So here we are, enjoying my time with my son :) Thank God! :)

My Very Own Inline Skates!

Yeh!! I finally got my own inline skates! I've wanted to buy a pair when I was a teenager but at that time I didn't have much money to spare and I was afraid my parents would scold. Since Pb was going to learn and we intended to get a pair for her, then I decided to buy for myself too! :) Yippee! Time to practise!! ;)

Eye Patching for Rb - Part 2

In my previous post on Rb's eye patching, I've mentioned that he had to patch his left eye for 4 months. Last month, we went back to KK Hospital for review and the doctor said that he has made good progress. Praise God!! :)  However, his right eye would still drift away slightly when it is tired, though less frequently now. To further strength his right eye muscle, we were told to continue in patching Rb's left eye, 2 hours daily. Hence we have to carry on in creating his Eye Patch chart. This few weeks, he has been asking for Space Angry Birds pictures. So here they are! :)

Inline Skating

We signed up Pb and Rb for an inline skates trial class as they always marvel at the skaters in Punggol Park. Rb was very enthusiastic initially, very gangho and assuming. However, once his boots were worn, he became whiny because he could not balance. In less than 10 minutes, he gave up! I didn't want to force him because I know that the initial learning would be tough and his feet would ache.
Pb on the other hand, persisted. She was more brave to try maybe because she had the experience of ice skating. After the trial, she said she would like to carry learning next week :) That's good! I'm glad she has perseverance although she mentioned that her soles were a little aching :)
So, we've signed her for more inline skates lessons and will be sourcing the skates for her. I used to skate too (though not very good) when I was a teenager. Seeing Pb learn inline skating, I feel like getting a pair for myself too, then we can both skate together! :)

Serious Face

I just love to see Rb's serious face when he's on task. He's also very neat and careful in his work. I'm so proud of him!! :) Thank you God for working on him! :)

Going for Devotion

Rb drew this picture in the afternoon and when I asked him what the picture was about, he said he has drawn a picture of himself and his friends, going to the second floor for his devotion.

Such a lovely picture!! Warms my heart! And look at all the faces of the children he has drawn? They all have bright happy faces with wide smiles. It shows that Rb is very happy about school and he loves his school. Thank you SKMCC for bringing joy to this little boy's life!! Praise God!! :)

A Game of Twister

We visited the Hans for CNY visitation. The children played Uno and Twister. I thought it was better than playing IPad and electronic gadgets.
