As usual, when the children have birthday celebrations, we usually do it in parts because of the various circle of stakeholders. The first part is Phoebe's celebration in school on 25 October 2010. It was only a 20-minute celebration because their snack time is only 20 minutes and after that, they will have to attend their Chinese class. Though it was a short celebration, it has made a mark in Phoebe's memory :)
She woke up in the morning feeling very excited. I bought her a new dress to wear on her birthday. She chose to have a Minnie Mouse cake. We ordered her chocolate cake from Bengawan Solo.
Before the children have their refreshments, they will usually sing their grace. They will also thank the aunties who prepare the food for them and they would invite their teachers and friends for the snack. Both papa and I took leave to spend Phoebe's special day with her, together with Auntie Nia and Reuben.
These are Phoebe's friends and teachers. Mrs Leow (co-teacher). Mrs Lim (English teacher) and Mrs Lee (Math/Form teacher), very patient and caring teachers.
Phoebe cutting her cake. Reuben was a little bored and he saw the nursery children playing bicycle. The nursery teacher, Ms Hoe, used to be Phoebe's nursery teacher. She took the smallest tricycle for Reuben to play with. It was very kind of her. Reuben has yet to learn how to paddle.
Phoebe serving her friends and her English teacher (in white). The lady in pink is the principal, Mrs. Tan. She is a very hands-on principal. She does not sit high up in an ivory chair, watching her staff work but she works along with them. There are about 324 children in SKMCC and she knows every single one by his/her name! A very remarkable, dynamic and yet humble lady. Very respectful! :)
When the children got back to class, Phoebe helped her teachers to give out the goodie bags for the children in Hope 1 and also her teachers and principal.
The children singing their grace before snack time.
The children sang the birthday songs and gave Phoebe FIVE BLESSINGS since she's five years old :)
